Woman with No Voice

W.A.A.S.P (Women Against Anti-Social Persecution) is the voice for the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and trans-gender community (LGBT), their families and friends . They promote equality and eliminate discrimination against the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and trans-gender community by offering support, advancing education and raising awareness of issues affecting them. They further charitable purposes for the benefit of the socially and economically disadvantaged LGBT communities living or working in the borough of Walsall or surrounding area.

Women who have suffered the same discrimination, social and economic problems that you may be experiencing now, have created W.A.A.S.P, a support group to help you and give you a voice. Drawing on their own experiences and the experiences of others they can offer a friendly, informal environment where you can discuss issues affecting you with people who have experienced similar problems. These services are available to all residents of Walsall and discretion is assured.

We offer you:

One to one support - talking face to face in complete privacy for a single meeting or over a longer time period.

Home visits - we will visit you at home if you prefer.

Health advice - health promotion covering such health issues as mental health, depression, addiction, holistic health and fitness. Aiming to create a better environment.

Information and support - our office in Walsall will operate as a drop-in centre where a variety of information will be available.

Advocacy - we will speak on your behalf in a challenging setting or support you in, for example, the Children's Family Court on behalf of lesbian or gay parents, at a tribunal or court. We will represent your interest when dealing with housing, benefit matters, child maintenance or most other problems you may be experiencing.

We will also campaign for the benefit of the LGBT community and carry out fund raising.

By becoming a member of W.A.A.S.P you can make your voice heard. Working together we can change things for the benefit of all. Stand up and be counted, support us so that we can support you. Become a member now!
